Re: virtual_maps, duplicate emails (unwarranted criticsm)

This diatribe is not only stupid, unprofessional and unnecessary.

In defense of Weitze, He has spearheaded a free, very professional mail
handling application, (did I say FREE?) You do not have to be a particular
fan, but you must respect his efforts and attention to the creation (and
deployment) of a nearly bulletproof application.

My words to the sender is that if you cannot say anything nice, then just don't
say anything at all, wipe your system and remove the Postfix application and
return to the M$ environment where obviously you feel more comfortable.

NO internet connected application and especially those that handle email are a
"set it and forget it" proposition. The goal of these "helpers" is to
encourage, nay insist that the users of this application fully understand what
they are doing and why. The implication is that if you do not understand what
your application is doing, then do not deploy it, until you do. A very
intimate part of this is the documentation, and we all know that in the rush to
install things, few people make it a point to completely read and digest the
documentation.

My advice is that being this list is for special help, and for the purpose of
improving the product and its documentation as well as adherence to standards.
. Why go to the effort, if all one wants is to share hacks and
incompatibilities? You are not serving your clients, not your own
understanding in this manner. My own system rejects mail from hacked and
poorly configured mail servers all the time.

If you wish your application installed and tweaked without reading the
documentation, then hire a professional that does and pay him/her to do your
work for you. Do not expect the authors to walk every newbie through each and
every installation.

Personally I do not find Weitze, Magnus, or any of the other "helpers" to be
smart-A$$ or elitist, but on the contrary ready and willing on a 24/7 basis to
get each user over the humps and for that I, for one, and eternally grateful.
