We've done it on a 125k userbase (in China) with an e3500 connected to
a A5100 (18 GB FC-AL Drives).

This is a very interesting thread and I'd like to see what comes out of
it. In our implementation we used cyrus-imapd with the partition
residing on nfs exported dir.
