Re: "mail loops back" problem

Gentlemen,

Thank you for the reply.

Wietse, I don't have a relayhost setting in my main.cf.

Philip, please see my comments:
-------------
You're trying to relay mail to balka.com, so Postfix basically sends
mail to itself in a loop, because it is not configured to accept it
and so tries to relay based on the MX records.

If the domain is hosted on another machine (say on an internal
network) you probably need to use transport_maps.

[Marcelo] - This domain is hosted on another machine across the
country, at another hosting facility (AFAIK -- joesao.com (where the
postfix installation in question is) is at Valueweb and balka.com is
hosted at Interland)

Why is your server the lowest priority MX for balka.com, if you're
not trying to send mail to it?

[Marcelo] - I have absolutely no idea. Does anybody know the answer? I
don't know why Postfix is telling me that the "best MX host for
balka.com is local" -- that's what I'm trying to fix. The best MX host
for balka.com should be balka.com (or mail.balka.com, I guess)!

-------------

Once I've authenticated through SASL I should be able to relay email to
anybody. Right now the installation is giving me this error (looping
email back to itself). Why? How do I fix it? Should I send more config
information?

(I didn't mention this the first time -- but I've scoured google,
newsgroups and mailing list archives, and found many people with a loop
problem, but no real solutions)

Thanks a lot for the help.
-Marcelo
