The answer is that a recipient resolves to exactly one transport. Period.
The fallback relay *MUST* use SMTP. By refusing to accept the answer you
limit your ability to solve the problem.

Accept the answer, discard your assumptions and think creatively:

        Is it possible to send the mail via SMTP to a server that will
        in-turn route selected recipient addresses via UUCP?
