Forgive the newbie question: Mixing Virtual and Local

I'm having trouble mixing local and virtual delivery. I don't know if
it's even possible, and would appreciate a pointer to a doc or howto
that shows how to do this.

I have my server set up based on Martin List-Petersen's howto, using
MySQL tables. Virtual delivery to maildirs is all working fine (I
don't have maildrop installed yet).

I now need to get Sympa installed, and while I can put the right
entries in the alias table, I don't know what, if anything, to put in
the virtual table to get things delivered to that local alias.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but my understanding is that Sympa's aliases
need to be handled by local delivery so the scripts can be executed.

Part of my problem, and this is my own fault, is that I'm trying to
configure this server to be a drop-in replacement for the current
mail server. The result of which is that if this machine does an MX
lookups, it gets the current mail server and delivers there. Virtual
works fine, but local seems to send the mail to the current host. Can
you put MX records in /etc/hosts?

So, rather than expose you all to my broken setup, I merely ask for
pointers to the right things in the docs.

Thanks in advance,

Zandr
