Do you also have other information from this 6878 process? It would
be interesting to know approximately how long it has been running
and what connect/disconnect events it saw over its life time.
Basically, all the 'smtpd.*connect|anvil' records over this time
span.

I've been running stress tests with multiple smtp-source processes
without finding any problem so the problem may be environment
specific.

What compiler were you using, and what are the values of CC, OPT
and DEBUG in the file /etc/postfix/makedefs? Maybe I can find
a machine with the same compiler and library.
