If you were only handling this in-house you could write your own with Perl and
GTar/GZip -- re-sending the compressed message as an attachment to the
destinantion/mailbox. However you will basically kill the intermediate server
with this function.

If size of pipe or hard disk are issues - it would be better to get a bigger
Internet connection or bigger hard drives.
