And yet, one does not understand the chroot feature until one has tried using it with various applications. Postfix happened to be the second one I tried, right after named (which went fine, by the way).

Explaining the UNIX chroot feature is the subject of tutorial
books. It does not belong in the documentation of how to set
up an MTA.
