Actually common misconception for windows users is that you need a mouse. I try very hard to educate people to put it down, especially when using progs like Excel which are very ammenable to keyboard control

It is no doubt my inexperience, but I do find that KDE is quite hard to use without a mouse, and this may be a small part of the reason why unix users are more likely to shy away from GUI apps than windows users...?

Anyway, I find that I can use most windows apps very easily with minimal use of the mouse. I do hope that writers of GUI apps for unix continue to make heavy use of keyboard shortcuts and accelerators.

Ridding myself of the need to use a pointing device speeds me up and
makes me more productive. Before the GUI (I ran DOS for years before
finally succumbing and running Win3.1) I was more efficient, and Linux
has brought me back to be more or less where I was then.
