Newline added to my mail file after using postfix's sendmail alias

Hello all,

Whenever I call postfix from the command line (using the "sendmail" command), postfix writes the message to my mail file (/var/mail/matt) with a \n first...skips a line, so the email "corrupts" my inbox...for instance, if I do bash$ sendmail matt, and then type the email....when I try to check my email its written the email incorrectly to /var/mail/matt...

See example below:

bash-2.05a$ /usr/sbin/sendmail matt
Subject: Hi

This is a test
.
bash-2.05a$

When I go to check my email through out look express, I get this:

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.atopia.net', Server: 'mail.atopia.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [SYS/PERM] Unable to process From lines (envelopes), change recognition modes or check for corrupted mail drop.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Note the server Error: Unable to process From lines (envelopes), change recognition modes or check for corrupted mail drop.

This caused me to check my mail file on the server only to find that the From: header began on the second line instead of the first, causing the inbox to be corrupted

Does anyone have any ideas? This only happens when I use the sendmail command, using the server on port 25 works fine.

Thanks!

-Matt
