Edward,
> 2) Agreed. I understand the difference, however, NOD(or RAV) + AMAVIS = Vexira (same functionality) agreed?
I would say that they are designed to perform the overall same function of virus scanning in-coming/out-going e-mail.
> If they do the same thing then you have to compare the prices of each.
I just browsed over to www.centralcommand.com to see what the actual prices are for you:
Vexira MailArmor 1 domain, 6000 mail boxes is $149.95
Vexira Antivirus for Linux Server is $262.45
> In my case I am a cheapskate so price is my over-riding priorty and I can bear a little pain of setting up AMAVIS (cut and paste), and speed is very acceptable, hence the only thing I need to buy is a virus scanner (licencing is usually an honesty thing, the virus scanner doesn't usually count the number of domains or addresses you are using)
If you are really looking at price it would be cheaper to buy Vexira Mailarmor at $149.95 because you said that NOD will cost you $400.00. Am I missing something here?

Thanks for looking. I just had a look myself. I have 7 or so domains, and my get more. Most of them have one user in them... I guess the per domain pricing is what some people may need to watch for here. For 10 domains the prices is $375
It's not clear if the linux server licence is valid for use with Amavis?
Thanks for your feedback
