Daniel,

| The mailserver I'm configuring is intended to do filtering trough amavis,
| but should restrict this filtering to certain domains.
|
| I am using amavis-ng which offers it's own small SMTP server.
| The transport, alias, virtual maps are stored in LDAP.
|
| E-Mail comming in which shouldn't be scanned is considered to be local and
| will be transfered to the right mailbox.
| That's no problem. This setup works.
| Now I want to implement the optional virus scanning.

What you are heading to is ok, and the way to go, if you
have a very busy mailer and a large proportion of its mail
should NOT be checked for viruses.

If this is not the case and you can afford all mail to pass
through a fast SMTP-based content filter, it is probably simpler
to use amavisd-new ( http://www.ijs.si/software/amavisd/ )
which can be configured to selectively skip the decoding/virus-checking
per recipient address/localpart/domain/subdomain/... using ACL or
hash-based lookups ( http://www.ijs.si/software/amavisd/README.lookups ).

The SMTP-in/SMTP-out hookup with Postfix is the same as with
amavis-ng, and is described in detail in:

  http://www.ijs.si/software/amavisd/README.postfix

including the recent Postfix tricks with multiple cleanup services.
