i don't know how to describe it any better than i already did....there
must be something wrong in my description because both you and viktor
weren't sure what i meant.
a fallback transport so you can, e.g., make all timed-out smtp deliveries
get sent via your 'deadbeats' transport instead.
alternatively, do it by transport so you might have main.cf config terms
like:
smtp_fallback_transport deadbeats:
or
smtp_fallback_transport uucp:upstream_node
or
bsmtp_fallback_transport smtp:
or
uucp_fallback_transport error:uucp subsystem misconfiguration
(the last one is just a silly example...)
the normal transport table should have precedence over the fallback
transport....if for no other reason than that a manual override on
default/automatic behaviour is always a good thing.
