clever. i like it.

extending the concept a little further, is there any point in having a
fallback_transport option in main.cf that sends all mail that failed the
first delivery attempt (or possibly a configurable number of deliveries)
via the specified transport IFF there is no existing transport table
entry for that domain (it is important to have a manual override)

fallback_transport would also be useful for dialup mail hosts which used
both smtp and uucp for outbound mail....would be possible to configure
it to use smtp while online, but fall back to uucp when offline.

i just noticed that fallback_transport already exists...but has a
different purpose to what is described above. can't think of another
name, except perhaps smtp_fallback_transport which i don't like because
it's too specific to smtp.

maybe fallback_transport should be renamed to local_fallback_transport,
and the idea above should get the generic fallback_transport name.
