I doubt "a lot". There are way too many broken implementations. I had to turn
it off, even at home. I got sick of trying to add in IPs for the like of
BankAmerica, who don't have PTR records for their mail servers.
Most ISPs will have a PTR record, which doesn't necessarily match the A (or
CNAME) record.
durham: host mail.peachfamily.net
mail.peachfamily.net CNAME homer.peachfamily.net
homer.peachfamily.net CNAME johnpeach.mine.nu
johnpeach.mine.nu A 24.44.88.85
durham: host 24.44.88.85
Name: ool-182c5855.dyn.optonline.net
Address: 24.44.88.85
Fortunately, no-one (as yet) has gone the distance of trying to match the PTR
record against the CNAME, which eventually resolves to an address I have
through dyndns.org (not that my IP has ever changed as the box stays on all
the time, but.....)
