Thanks! I also tracked down a version at vacation.sourceforge.net that was
ported to Linux from a BSD version.
"Linux in a Nutshell" from O'Reilly lists vacation as a "standard" (my word,
not theirs) Linux command, but it is not in the canned installation that
shipped with my server and I cannot find anything about it on the RedHat
site. (The server is running Red Hat Linux release 6.2.) I also don't have
an apt-get command so wasn't able to try Ralf's solution.
At any rate, I think I can get most of what I need from the version I found
(and I have the source code so I can hack in anything else that I need.)
