If I remember correctly, it's required by the RFCs.
And having a firewall changing stuff that passes through it seems weird,
no? Isn't a firewall designed to accept/reject traffic, without looking at
the actual content?
Anyway, if your server's name is such that it cannot be shown in public
where it may be offensive to some people, why don't you just rename it? For
example in French, so the prude Americans don't understand :-)
