I'd think that too.
Is there any source of virus signatures that can be used with simple regexp
matches? All the AV solutions I've seen are closed source products with
proprietary file formats. I would have thought that this is just the kind of
thing open source would work well with, where people report virus sigs to a
central DB... Does that exist somewhere already, or am I misunderstanding
the nature of AV software?
