We have several campuses that connect to Intertnet using ADSL with
dynamic IP. Overall up-time exceeds 95% but short-term outages are
common (mostly limited to 5 minutes or less but occasional 1+ hours).
We currently accept mail for these campuses via a central, "reliably
connected server" which forwards to the "unreliable" servers using a
(postfix) transport table using an alternative private (intranet) route.
We have been asked if it is possible to change this setup so that mail
can still be reliably delivered, but direct to these 'unreliable"
servers using Internet only (to ease traffic congestion on the private
