I had a similar problem,

it was the daemon pwcheck was not running

the /etc/init.d/pwcheck script check a top if /usr/sbin/pwcheck exists

Althought pwcheck_pam and pwcheck_standard exist but pwcheck not.
Then I made a symbolic link pwcheck to pwcheck_pam (or another) and the script run correctly.

This occurs because I need the authentification for Cyrus IMAP, after this, the test utility: imtest not fail, but I don't get still that the windows client access to mail. Always back a message error.

Do you know this problem?

I have consult the Cyrus Imap Howto and other informative adresses, but without result.

Regards,
Alberto
