    These settings should work:

    loginrealms: example.net
    virtdomains: on
    defaultdomain: example.net

    One caveat, which doesn't seem to apply to you, is that if you've
    already created your mailboxes under a different configuration,
    such as:

    loginrealms: example.net
    virtdomains: on
    #defaultdomain:

    and then try to change the value of defaultdomain afterwards, you
    may not get expected results.
