How to limit the number of incoming connections

Hi,

Is there any way to limit the number of opened connections?
I have found only that I can:
- limit listen queue for cyrus-master
- maxchild for imap
- maxfds for imap

Is there any mapping between maximum number of fds and connections? If I
knew for example that every connection takes 5 fds, I could limit the
number maxchild and maxfds to limit the maximum number of connections.
I suppose I will get other problems thes, so does anybody has an idea
how to do it?
