Yes, I tried that. The spec file is in
/usr/src/redhat/SPECS/cyrus-sasl.spec
I change db3 to db4 in the spec file.
I have the src rpm in /usr/local/src
I do rpmbuild --rebuild cyrus-sasl-2.1.17-2.src.rpm
and it fails ...
rpmbuild --rebuild cyrus-sasl-2.1.17-2.src.rpm
Installing cyrus-sasl-2.1.17-2.src.rpm
error: Failed build dependencies:
db3-devel is needed by cyrus-sasl-2.1.17-2
I look at the spec file and it has the db4 changed back to db3.
Something in my process overwrites the spec file after I have changed it.

I always just replace db3 with db4 in the SPEC file. Works fine for me.
