I experienced a strange behavior today when I noticed that the
imap portion of cyrus was slowing down and eventually was unable
to serve. The logs was full of this message:

I deleted the deliver database and runned reconstruct -f and the problem
went away.
Any ideas what was causing this ?
I do run a tar -czf on the mailstore every hour via crontab without
stopping cyrus. (may this kind of backup be of any issue here?)
System: RH7.3, CyrusImap/Sasl 2.1.5 BDB3 default (i.e. not skiplist...)
