If you use
mailbox_transport = lmtp:unix:/var/lib/imap/socket/lmtp
instead, aliases seem to work fine (so root can be aliased as usual).
Does this approach disable single instance store?? We use Postfix
2.0.11-2 RPMs on Red Hat 8.0 here this way.
