Tried. This doesn't work either.
The reason why I thought saslauthd should/would/might work, is that
postfix is also setup to use saslauthd when doing SMTP AUTH. At least I
think so, because /usr/lib/sasl/smtpd.conf contains:
[root at devel root]# cat /usr/lib/sasl/smtpd.conf
realm: devel.net-attach.de
pwcheck_method: saslauthd
And if I stop saslauthd... postfix SMTP AUTH still works?!?! Uhm, what
method does postfix use to do the authentication? I'll check that on
the postfix list - but comments would still be welcome.
