On my FreeBSD 5.2.1-RC system, I decided not to use the ports
version of cyrus-sasl, and instead compiled it myself.

This is what happens if I attempt to create an account with
    saslpasswd:

      # truss /usr/local/sbin/saslpasswd2 -c admin
truss: cannot open /proc/43826/mem: No such file or directory
truss: cannot open /proc/curproc/mem: No such file or directory

      # /usr/local/sbin/saslpasswd2 -v
      [ .. snip ..]
Built against SASL API version 2.1.17
LibSasl version 2.1.17 by "Cyrus SASL"

These are the build options I passed to cyrus-sasl2:

      --enable-otp=no
      --enable-krb4=no
      --enable-gssapi=no
      --enable-login=yes
      --with-dbpath=/usr/local/etc/sasldb2
      --with-dblib=berkeley
      --with-bdb-libdir=/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2/lib
      --with-bdb-incdir=/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2/include
      --with-openssl=/usr
      --with-plugindir=/usr/local/lib
      --with-saslauthd=/usr/local/var/cyrus

I've placed a copy of the ktrace(1) output from executing
saslpasswd2, using no flags to ktrace, at:

      http://the.whole.net/~pup/ktrace.out.bz2

Any helpful hints would be great.

    Regards,

    Jubal
