Subject: saslpasswd2 and virtdomains

I'm a Cyrus newbie attempting to set up a new server with virtual
domains. I've got cyrus-sasl-2.1.7-2 installed from rpm, and
cyrus-imapd-2.2.0-ALPHA installed from source. I've largely been
manipulating /etc/imapd.conf, which is appended below.
The box's name, for now, is donner.cannibals.org. The output of
hostname is "donner." I'd like to have user cyrus be the global admin
for all realms. The docs are pretty clear that admins qualified with a
realm, e.g. subcommandante at cannibals dot org, have admin privileges for
their own realm only, whereas an admin account without a realm has
global authority.
I've tried several alternative command lines but can't seem to get
saslpasswd2 to create a user unqualified by a realm.
saslpasswd2 -c cyrus
gets me an account for cyrus@donner, and
saslpasswd2 -c cyrus -u ""
gets me the same result. I'd be grateful for a hint.
