Hello, I have attempted to set my system to authenticate SMTP-AUTH users
directly to a database. It does work correctly for users of clients such
as Eudora5, Mulberry3.. but Mozilla 1.3 fails.

The message logged when a user of Mozilla or Netscape attempts to use
SMTP-AUTH is:
Apr 9 14:56:16 lonestar sm-mta[69482]: mysql auxprop plugin has been requested
Apr 9 14:56:16 lonestar sm-mta[69482]: mysql plugin Parse the username
USERNAME
Apr 9 14:56:16 lonestar sm-mta[69482]: mysql plugin try and connect to a host
Apr 9 14:56:16 lonestar sm-mta[69482]: mysql plugin try and connect to DBHOST
Apr 9 14:56:16 lonestar sm-mta[69482]: unknown password verifier
Apr 9 14:56:16 lonestar sm-mta[69482]: Password verification

The authentication mechanism attempted by Mozilla appears to be PLAIN.
With the mysql authentication setup, the auth simply seems to fail, and
Mozilla continues to ask for the password.

My sendmail.mc has:
TRUST_AUTH_MECH(`CRAM-MD5 DIGEST-MD5 PLAIN LOGIN')dnl
define(`confAUTH_MECHANISMS',`PLAIN DIGEST-MD5 CRAM-MD5 LOGIN
DPA')dnl (yes I know this has extra stuff)

When I use the mysql-configured Sendmail.conf SASL2 configuration, the
configuration includes:
mech_list: PLAIN CRAM-MD5 DIGEST-MD5

When I use the local sasldb file, which everything does work with, my
Sendmail.conf file has only this:
pwcheck_method: auxprop

Is there something I'm missing? I tried to find others having experienced
the same issue, but didn't have any luck.

Thanks
