Subject: Why is --enable-login req'd for postfix/smtp auth with Win Outlook?

I've installed cyrus-sasl-2.1.12 and found that I had to add
"--enable-login" in order to get SMTP AUTH working with postfix-2.0.6. I'm
curious about this because I see this is "no longer supported".
