Subject: Confused about setup

Hello:
I am trying to allow people to have mailboxes on my SuSE 8.1
system via Cyrus IMAP/POP3.
I am using standard component versions that come with SuSE 8.1, so they
all should be fairly new.
I would like my IMAP/POP3 users to just be setup in Cyrus so that I
don't have to actually create real accounts.
So I figure I could add users with the Cyradm tool and store the password
information in the SASL database by using the saslpasswd command.
I am confused about how to setup up the imapd.conf file. What auth method
etc do I use? auxprop? plain? sasldb? saslauthd?
And there appears to be only a few options for auth methods in saslauthd.
What method do I tell saslauthd to use?
To authenticate and store password info in the sasldb do I need to run the
saslauthd?
This is my first time looking at this stuff, so go easy on me please. :-)
Thanks,
Jim
