Is there any interest in changing how Period works from a fixed period of time to an adaptive period, similar to how InktomiSearch does it? If I understand it correctly, a document is initially found. If it's unchanged when it's found again the next day, then it's not indexed for 2 more days. If it's still not changed, it's next indexed 4 days later, then 8, then 16 and finally 32. It never goes more than 32 days without being rechecked.
This seems efficient to me. Any thoughts? Would this be hard to implement? I'm not a coder, but would be willing to contribute however I can.
