See ./index -h
That will tell you how to stop a running index. From another shell:
./index -E
That will safely terminate an already running index. This will NOT update
your search engine with the newly index sites. To do that you have to do
this:
index -D
Which will sort delta files and merge the information from the delta files
into the searchable database.
Of course all this is in the manual!
Regards,
Karen
