I have cleaned \r from CVS sources and applied your patch.

Please conform to the doc/CodingStyle guide next time you will
send a patch, you are also welcome to fix your existing code,
send patches against the latest CVS.

I have also added checking of apxs exit code to configure, and
fixed some minor issues.

OK, here is it. In addition I fixed (found yesterday) some 'getenv' calls in
'datasource.cpp'.
