14.5 Common Problems

14.5.1. I get an unsupported subdevice XX error!
14.5.2. I get a sb_dspwr(XX) timed out error!
14.5.3. I get a bad irq XX error!
14.5.4. I get a ``xxx: gus pcm not attached, out of memory'' error. What causes that?

14.5.1. I get an unsupported subdevice XX error!

One or more of the device nodes was not created correctly. Repeat the steps above.

14.5.2. I get a sb_dspwr(XX) timed out error!

The I/O port is not set correctly.

14.5.3. I get a bad irq XX error!

The IRQ is set incorrectly. Make sure that the set IRQ and the sound IRQ are the same.

14.5.4. I get a ``xxx: gus pcm not attached, out of memory'' error. What causes that?

If this happens, it is because there is not enough available memory to use the device.
